About Beautiful Bengal Cats For Sale

By Katrina Wheeler

Bengals are really hybrids, a cross breed of the Asian leopard cat and the domestic cat. They do look like spotted or marbled small leopards, little bit larger than their domestic relatives, but equally affectionate and friendly. On the other hand, they are somehow different, and if you would like to find Bengal cats for sale, you need to know more about them.

Their standard colors include brown, sepia, lynx, silver and mink. There are also some other possible colors, like for example blue, but they belong to non-standards. By their character, Bengals are very similar to ordinary domestics, as well as by their size, but they still look very much alike their wild ancestors, especially when it comes to their body structure.

This hybrid was first made many years ago, but the first confirmed hybrid was published in Belgium, in 1934. Today, there are more than 60 000 of them, all round the world. Some associations accept them, and some accept only pure breeds. In any case, they are beautiful and healthy, without genetic illnesses. The one disease they might rarely get is the recessive disorder that cause blindness sometimes.

Although Bengals come from a line of wild animals, they can really be perfect pets. Even so, the first three generations are strictly reserved for breeding purposes only. After that, they are perfectly adapted for family life. They often have their own opinion about many things, and they won't be so happy sitting in your lap all day long, but they will enjoy sleeping somewhere near you.

Although they can have some other colors, they are mainly divided into two groups, brown spotted and snow spotted. Of course, they can be marbled as well. Rosettes are especially attractive. In this case, the spots are surrounded with dark lines, and can have two or three colors. Three-colored rosette is highly appreciated by some judges.

Snow Bengals are especially attractive, and they can also be spotted or marbled. Some of them have extraordinary looking blue eyes, and others can have brown and green, or maybe gold eyes. They are divided into two groups, the blue-eyed and all the others. Two special variations, the blue eyed lynx and green or gold eyed sepia are sometimes called Snow leopard Spotteds.

Instead of spots, marbled Bengals have swirls of color, mainly flowing horizontally. Ocelot patterns are highly appreciated. This pattern might occur in sepia, lynx and mink variation. Marbles can also have rosette markings, and here it really looks very attractive.

Although they make perfect pets, just like any other cat, Bengals are slightly larger and built more like their wild ancestors. They can reach up to fifteen pounds and they should have short hair. They look very attractive, and are quite active, comparing to their domestic relatives, and can be walked on leashes. Sometimes they love to play in water, and they can also make a really nice mess.

If you are interesting in finding Bengal cats for sale, check your local papers or try to find reliable breeders online. They are beautiful and curious, intelligent and affectionate, playful and sometimes moody, but just amazing. They love children, but won't appreciate spending time on your lap. They rather sleep somewhere near you.
