Whether To Try Cat Sitting San Francisco

By Leslie Mitchell

Most people would all agree that pets are like family or best friends. For some, who have no kids, they are like children. Even some families with kids consider their cats to be another child. However, when folks take their annual vacation overseas, they do not necessarily wish to bring Fluffy along. In those times, they may consider cat sitting San Francisco.

Anyone who lives in the San Francisco area would certainly have any options when it comes to care for their feline friends. While boarding is always a consideration, people are finding that boarding is very stressful on the animals. When it comes time to pick Fluffy up from the kennel, the risk is finding a very angry, disoriented kitty.

Dogs and cats both are apt to show their disappointment at having been dropped off at some kennel. Once home, they may start chewing on things like upholstery and carpet. Dogs may pee on the floor and cats refuse to use the litter box. And of course they are known to avoid and ignore their owners for days and possibly not eat. Cats may hide under a bed and not come out. It can take some time to get things back on an even keel.

By hiring a sitter, most of this stress can be avoided. Most of the time, kitties are fine being left home alone. They will miss their owners of course. But they are still comfortable in their usual surroundings. They have their favorite hiding places, sleeping areas and feeding location. Everything is the same as normal.

A cat sitter will be able to pop in and put out fresh food and water. They will scoop out the litter box and clean up the area. Cats that like to play can be entertained by a sitter and some toys. Kitties are given affection and attention through petting them and maybe brushing them. Whatever their normal routine, a sitter will try to maintain it.

Most often, a cat sitter will visit once per day. But naturally if you prefer a different schedule, that can be arranged. For example, pets on medicine may need to be visited two times per day. Then there are those that are not particularly social and free feed on dry that only need to be seen every other day.

Most cat sitting companies frown on visiting less often than every other day. The main reason is pet safety. Think about this: what if Kitty got stuck in a tight space and could not get out. You would not want this to go unnoticed for three days! Changes in stool or eating may indicate an illness that should be addressed as soon as possible. If nobody is there to do that, a problem could arise.

While going though the cat sitting San Francisco hiring process, keep in mind that whomever you select will be caring after your pets as well as your home. Make sure you feel comfortable with them and that they seem comfortable with your pets. Things to ask about are insurance, bonding and licensing.
